2. The Math: The app takes the current time, divides it by 30 (to create a "time window"), and combines that number with the secret key using a cryptographic hash function (usually SHA-1).
3. The Output: The result is truncated to produce a 6-digit code.
4. The Verification: When you type the 6-digit code into the SWTOR launcher, the server performs the exact same calculation. If the numbers match, you are granted access.
