RL/RL-Prism: Provides reflectorless measurement up to 984 feet (300m) using a narrow red laser beam. Perpendicularity: The laser beam must hit the target
Rules for Reflectorless Work
- Perpendicularity: The laser beam must hit the target as close to 90° as possible. At 45°, the reflected signal drops by 50%.
- Surface Texture: Matte, light-colored surfaces work best. Dark, shiny, or wet surfaces cause range errors.
- Minimum Distance: Never use RL below 5 meters. The laser won’t focus.
- Safety: Class 2 laser. Do not point at eyes or reflective mirrors.
2. Check the Optical Plummet
- Set up over a point. Mark the point on paper. Rotate 180°. If the point moves, calibrate using the three adjustment screws under the eyepiece.
