4.2. Polarity Matters Only for LEDs
- LEDs: Reverse polarity = no light (won’t damage). If LED doesn’t light, flip the connector.
- Switches: Polarity irrelevant – they just close a circuit.
Example front-panel pin mapping (illustrative)
- PWR_SW: 2-pin, labeled PWR_SW
- RESET: 2-pin, labeled RESET
- PWR_LED: 3-pin, labeled PLED (Pin1 = +, Pin2 = N/C, Pin3 = -)
- HDD_LED: 2-pin, labeled HDD_LED
- USB1: 9-pin, labeled USB1 (2x5 layout, one pin missing)
- F_AUDIO: 9-pin, labeled F_AUDIO
- SPEAKER: 4-pin or 2-pin, labeled SPK or SPEAKER
- CLRTC: 3-pin, labeled CLRTC or JBAT
- POWER SW (2-pin) – usually blue/white or black/yellow
- RESET SW (2-pin) – blue/white or white/black
- HDD LED (2-pin) – red/white and black/white
- POWER LED (2-pin or 3-pin) – green/white and white. On 3-pin, the middle is unused.
Conclusion
- Reset SW pin A → Pin 5 (GND)
- Reset SW pin B → Pin 7 (RESET+)
Front panel header location
- Located on the bottom right corner of the board.
- Labeled something like F_PANEL or JFP1.
- Usually a 10-pin block (two rows of 5 pins, one row missing one pin for keying).
How to verify without a manual
- Missing pin = Pin 10 (key). Locate it first.
- Two adjacent pins for PWR_SW – often pins 7 & 8 in first table.
- Two pins for RESET – often pins 3 & 4.
- Two pins for PWR_LED (sometimes 3-pin, but on N15235 it’s usually 2-pin).
- Two pins for HDD_LED.
