For anyone who has managed a server, migrated a website, or handled bulk file transfers, FileZilla is the reluctant hammer in your digital toolbox. It works. It’s reliable. It’s been the industry standard for two decades.

A few reasons:

Transmit (macOS): The gold standard for Mac users, boasting a gorgeous, professional dark user interface. Go to Edit > Settings > Interface > Themes
Out of the box, FileZilla offers a "Dark" theme, but it often leaves much to be desired—sometimes resulting in a patchy look where the toolbar remains white while the file panels turn grey.
- Go to Edit > Settings > Interface > Themes.
- Select a minimal icon set (like OpenCrystal or simply stripping icons down to basics).
- Go to File listing settings. Depending on your OS, you may need to adjust fonts, but the background color is often tied to system colors.
- Black pixels on OLED = Off pixels.
- White pixels on OLED = Maximum voltage to every sub-pixel.
