However, version 2.12.423 (released in late 2015) was the final build of WhatsApp that officially supported Android 4.1.1. That specific APK is what you need to find.
As of early 2026, the minimum requirement for the official version of WhatsApp is Android 5.0. Furthermore, WhatsApp has announced that starting September 8, 2026, the minimum requirement will increase to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow).
