If cleaning fails, buy a replacement. I got a universal Creative T3/T40 volume pod from [eBay seller name] for $25. It’s plug-and-play – 9-pin DIN cable into the subwoofer. No soldering. Cut the DB9 connector off the T3’s subwoofer

How to Bypass:

  1. Cut the DB9 connector off the T3’s subwoofer cable (or buy a DB9 breakout board).
  2. Using the T3 wiring diagram (available on audio forums), hard-wire the left/right inputs directly to the amplifier board inside the subwoofer.
  3. Remove the volume pot from the signal path completely.
