Here’s a short story based on the casting note for Marcela (13y) and Ethel (15y):

The World of Young Talent: A Guide to Casting for Juvenile Roles

Step 2 – Partner with Licensed Talent Agents (for minors)

Do NOT hold open calls for children without agent screening. Instead, issue a breakdown to SAG-AFTRA (US), Equity (UK), or Asociación de Actores (Latin America) that only licensed agents for minors submit.

Today, they were both auditioning for the same play. Two roles. Five other kids trying out.

Panel: Must include at least one trained Child Protection Officer (or equivalent).

Helpful tip: When you’re under 18, ask a parent, teacher, or trusted adult to help you proofread any written material you’ll bring to an audition. It’s a good way to catch spelling errors and to make sure you’ve covered all the required parts of the script.

Step 5 – Callback & Chemistry Read (with Guardians)

If both Marcela and Ethel are being cast together, hold a supervised chemistry read. Guardians must sit in. Never leave two minor actors alone with an adult director in a closed room.

Title: The Audition

Script sides: Provide age-appropriate scenes. For Marcela (13): a scene in a classroom or solving a mystery. For Ethel (15): a monologue about friendship or discovering a secret.
