Part 1: What Are "Runes" in Alan Wake 2? (And Why "Hot"?)

First, a clarification. Alan Wake 2 does not feature Norse runes. The community slang "Runes" actually refers to the Charms (Saga) and Words of Power (Alan). However, the "Rune Hot" search spike came from the "Lake House" DLC patch, which introduced glowing red/orange charms that look remarkably like futhark runes when illuminated by Saga's flashlight.
